Malnutrition occurs when the body does not obtain enough nutrients. It is the largest contributor to disease in the world, which is why we need to be conscious of it and have the knowledge and understanding to prevent and treat it. Malnutrition can cause very mild symptoms, however, it can also be extremely severe in which case permanent damage can be done to the body. This damage comes with prolonged periods of time of insufficient nutrient consumption.
